Have to vs. Get to…

Hey! It’s Laura and we’re on the brink of a brand-new year.

This is my favorite time to take a few quiet moments to think about all of the things that happened over the past year …

… and also imagine all the things I’d love to have happen during the upcoming year.

Not to get too deep here, but this is so important because the past and present are linked together by one thing – my actions and intentions.

Taking time to reflect helps me move closer to my goals – and sometimes even shifts what my goals are.

Because sometimes the best goals aren’t ends in themselves … it’s becoming the person I need to become in order to get there.

Here’s an example, if I want to deadlift 250 lbs, I know I have to shift some of my behaviors – and my attitude towards them.

Which could mean adding more deadlift variations to my “non-deadlifting” days to help build up my strength (something I’ve not been the best at doing).

And instead of dreading it and dragging myself through it – I’ve learned to APPRECIATE the opportunity to be able to do it. I “get to” do sumo deadlifts today instead of I “have to”…

It’s quite a shift.

And I’ve got some great new resources coming very soon to help you with this …

but as we prepare to say hello to 2023, I encourage you to spend some time thinking about these things!

It can make a BIG difference.

I’d love to hear what you think! What areas do you want to work on in 2023? Let me know!

Thanks so much for reading. Stop by again soon!
